PSA International Launches Inaugural Sustainability Report: Green Horizons

Over the years, PSA has remained steadfast in our efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable port and supply chain ecosystem. For the first time, PSA International has published a Sustainability Report, titled “Green Horizons: Enabling a Better World Through Sustainable Port and Supply Chain Solutions”.

Green Horizons encapsulates our commitment to have sustainability underpin and drive our business, as we seek new horizons of growth to build a better world.

The Group’s Sustainability Strategy Framework is set out in the report. This framework resulted from a rigorous assessment of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors that are material to our business and our stakeholders. It provides a roadmap for our ambition in driving sustainable value creation and outlining our strategic priorities on three fronts – Taking Climate Action, Transforming Supply Chains and Nurturing A Future-Ready Workforce.

PSA’s sustainability goals are outlined in the report. The Group aims to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 (against a 2019 baseline year) and progressively achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

In the Report, Group Chairman Peter Voser and Group CEO Tan Chong Meng emphasised PSA’s unwavering commitment to steward responsible business practices and create sustainable value over the long term.

At PSA, sustainability is not merely an option but a responsibility. This belief has propelled them to make investments and spearhead innovations to bring about rapid decarbonisation of their operations. Several significant strides include the progressive electrification of equipment and the test-bedding of alternative energy vectors like hydrogen. Tuas Port in Singapore will also showcase the latest climate technologies and set the standard for sustainable port operations.

In addition, PSA is also in a unique position to influence change beyond operations and across global supply chains. To this end, they have been growing the digital and physical services of their Cargo Solutions arm to enable cargo owners and customers to make greener logistics choices, and inking partnerships to co-innovate more sustainable and efficient supply chain solutions.

Above all, people continue to be of utmost priority. Despite workplace disruptions caused by COVID-19 in 2020, they managed to continuously train and upskill employees through e-learning and virtual training programmes. Beyond preparing their employees for the future of work, they looked to empower employees with a climate-conscious mindset that will motivate action to drive sustainable changes for both PSA, their stakeholders and the world.

PSA have set out clear goals in a journey towards a greener future. While 2020 was an extraordinary year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, their eyes are on greener horizons. For the sake of future generations, tackling climate change is a task no one can leave till tomorrow.

Together, we can work alongside one another to widen our horizons of action and enable a better world with courage and conviction. What will you do with us today, to journey towards a greener horizon?
